
The dancer and actress from the golden age of Mexican cinema, Lupita Torrentera, has passed away at the age of 93. Recognized for her work in the film industry, she was also known for her relationship with the famous actor and singer Pedro Infante. The news of her passing was communicated by her daughter, Lupita Infante Torrentera, who is a descendant of Pedro Infante and the star of films such as "The Futile Life of Pito Pérez."
So far, the causes of the actress's death have not been disclosed. However, it was reported that the wake for Lupita Torrentera will take place at the García López Funeral Home in Pedregal. In a statement, the family shared: "The Infante and Michel families, with deep sorrow and sadness, inform you of the sensitive passing of actress and dancer Lupita Torrentera."
Lupita Infante Torrentera, who has followed in her father's footsteps in music, expressed gratitude on her social media for all the condolence messages received. In a post, she highlighted: "She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, whom we bid farewell to with great sadness and love (...) we love you, mom, your children and all your family."
Guadalupe Torrentera y Bablot, born on November 2, 1931, in Mexico City, demonstrated her talent from a young age, making her film debut at the age of 11. Throughout her career, she participated in films such as "The Story of a Love," sharing the screen with renowned artists of the time like Andrés Soler and Jorge Negrete. Additionally, she ventured into theatrical and television projects.
Lupita Torrentera also stood out as a dancer, having worked at the Follies Bergere theater, where Pedro Infante was captivated by her. Despite her mother's initial opposition due to the age difference, they began a relationship that lasted six years and resulted in three children. However, the love story ended when Lupita discovered Infante's romance with Irma Dorantes.
After her relationship with Pedro Infante, the actress married broadcaster León Michel. Her artistic career included appearances in films up to her last appearance in "El Callejón de los Cholos," released in 2002.
